Sundarakandam Chapters 11 - 15. A Commentary by Venkataraman Rajagopalan

Chapter 11
A Seperate Hall for Drinking
To take drinks which will intoxicate a person, and Madhu, as they call it in sanskrit, there was a separate hall. All situations were chaotic there due to the consumption of drinks, full to the brim , or half consumed. All the side dishes like cooked and raw mutton and animal parts were strewn all over, parts of the killed animals and birds were visible everywhere. The ladies present there were with half dressedor clothes taken off lying in unconscious state in different postures. All these were the result of the heavy booz, they all have consumed.
Looking at them Aanjaneyar never swerved off from his journey of search for Sita Amma and was keen to collect more details about this hall. He was sure, it is a waste of time to go through such places. So he continued to proceed further.
Lesson – 11 :
Normal human law is to face interations with situations which will offer easy way to hijack you , thereby you may lose your way, but Aanjaneyar shows you that determination and consistency take you ever towards reaching successfully to your goal. Let Aanjaneyar be always with us showering the courage and sticking to our task with full faith.Hence your ambitions nand your efforts towards it will be fulfilled.

Chapter 12
Aanjaneyar worried on not seeing Sita Amma yet
Aanjaneyar searched all the noo and corner of the palace, still could not find the location. Due to that, he starts thinking of whether Ravana might have killed her, as she would not submit herself to his wishes, or she would have fallen off from the vimanam while Ravana was forcibly taking her to Lanka, she might have killed herself due to the separation
from her husband. Or may be guarded in captivity by Rakshashis who would have threatened her due to which she committed suicide. His unsuccessful search so far had taken him through thesesort of assorted possibilities. To come out of this situation is a must to continue his jouney of searching for Sita Amma.
Lesson- 12:
Aanjaneyar continues with perseverance his journey though the depth of his purpose puts thoughts of different possibilities through his mind and how he comes out are detailed in this and next chapter, for our guidance and protection by Aanjaneyar not to swerve away from our concentration.
My thoughts :
When you continuously go on any particular objective, you will not only encounter situations drawing off your attention from that but also, the continuity leads to desperation and exhasperation taking you to thoughts at all the negative possibilities and landing on dejection. These are the experiences of Aanjaneyar on not yet finding out Sita Amma, for us to imagine similar situations we may face also and he assures us that he will guide us through to success just as he achieved.

Chapter 13
Mind wavers further due to still not locating Sita Amma
Aanjaneyar took on his task so seriously and feeling the great importance of it, his search, futile so far, takes his mind to criss-cross thoughts regarding the possible repercussions. Before starting for Lanka, he told his people that he would come back successfully in the mission. Or he would end his life. So he thought all his colleagues would be alive with the thought that one day he will return successfully.
“I was overconfident possibly, when I told Jaambavaan and Angadhan that if I cannot locate Sita Amma, I would tie the whole Lanka to my tail and bring it here so that we all will search fully and even if Ravana hides Sita Amma in Devaloka, we would bring her back” all these rhetorics have now gone to emptiness. Once they come to know about my failure and my ending life, they all will end their lives, then as a chain continuity, Sugreeva, Ramar, Lakshmanan, and then at Ayodhya, Bharatha, Shathrugna, Their mothers, ministers and subsequently all the people of Ayodhya will end their lives. So he felt it would be better he ends his life here itself so that all of them would atleast live awaiting my return to them.
Sudden spark came to Aanjaneyar in his mind. “ Look, this is Rama Karyam. Then how I forgot to look to Rama for his blessings and guidance which will give the solution to me”. Now with full devotion, Aanjaneyar started chanting Rama naamam . His mind became calm and he started looking around afresh. He saw at a distance a dense forest with lot of tall trees. He wondered why he did not see it earlier. This forest may be the possible place to hide and keep Sita Amma in captivity. Let me see there.”.So Aanjaneyar proceeded towards the forest.
Lession – 13: Despair and depression take even a highly sensible person to go on thinking at a high pace, all the possible negative implications leading to disastrous decisions. This experience, Aanjaneyar shares with us in this chapter and like an effective medicine it solves the problem. That medicine was praying to Rama who gave him instant solution.
What I think : Let us not brood over the past and present failures in any of our activities. Put the onus on Aanjaneyar and pray for his blessings to make us sail through solutions to achieve sultimate success.

Chapter 14
Ashoka vanam :
Aanjaneyar climbs over the boundary wall and see plenty of dense trees with full of flowers giving fragrance all over. The forest is termed as Ashoka vanam where your sorrow or despair will go off due to the environment of the forest. He saw at a distance a mountain called Kireetaa. When he goes near, he sawa river flowing and a tall simshupa tree on the banks of the river, and also a sitting platform all around the trunk of the tree. Immediately he felt possibly for Sita Amma this could be ideal place to take bath and take rest in the mind, getting smoothening relief from her grief. While jumping tree to tree, plenty of fragrant flowers were falling from the trees , giving a comforting environment to indicate that good things will happen from now on and while jumping few flowers were torn due to his nails pass through the flowers, indicating Aanjaneyarwhile proceeding further may have kill bad forces. This is how he felt.
Aanjaneyar climbed upon a treetop and started looking around.
Lesson -14 :
Coming to this forest onwards, Aanjaneyar felt confidence and good signs to indicate he is moving towards the solution and the same confidence we should get with Aanjaneyar’s guidance to breezethrough towards solution to our problems on hand.
Thus the Fourteenth chapter of Sundarakandam is completed

Chapter 15 / 68
Aanjaneyar sights the solution
Aanjaneyar was seeing the Simsupaa tree very closely.  He saw the tree with  all around platform with one lady sitting on it. Deformed and dreadful Rakshasees were around the place sitting in a circle. This lady was wearing dirty and cramped saree with her lock of hair not dressed up properly. Eyes were looking very tired as though she did not have sleep for many days. Her beauty was like a full moon covered by cloudsbut she looked majestic even without any ornaments .So this must be Sita Amma whom I was searching for. Great, her divine look and majestic appearance confirm that she is the right match for Rama. Infact, he thought Rama is very lucky and fortunate to have Sita Amma as his wife.
Aanjaneyar vows he will do all possible actions to reunite Rama an SitaAmma.
Lesson – 15 :
Depth of despair and anxiety is proportional to the value we attach to the missing object. Aanjaneyar felt the intense relief when he spotted Sita Amma there. His intense and fully concentrated search brought the sight of solution within his reach. Similarly, our problems , even if solution long awaited and creating panic in our minds, will see the light of the day bringing mental relief and ultimate satisfaction today with Aanjaneyar’s blessings and presence.
Thus the Fifteenth chapter of Sundarakandam is completed
